Social workshops – workshops for seniors

May – June 2021

Mateusz Przyłęcki, Agnieszka Polańska

During meetings, participants talked about emotions, associations, memories and reflections evoked by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and the story of Majnun and Layla. Works of art and literature inspired by these stories were discussed together. The tasks of participants were to write Eurydice’s letter to Orpheus or to make a photo self-portrait inspired by the discussion on Majnun’s madness.

In the meantime, individual online conversations on both stories took place. On their basis, four podcasts were created as the main result of our workshops. The podcasts are published on the Facebook page.

The workshops fulfilled the following goals:

– The participants saw themselves in the story of Orpheus and Eurydice and Majnun and Layla and found specific events from their own life in them.
– Seniors had an opportunity to meet new persons, to establish deeper relations with them, to share their life experience and to make reflections on death, longing and love.
– The participants could develop Imagination, creativity and intellectual skills.
